HIGHLIGHTS
The new Public Procurement Act No. 10 of 2023 will come into effect on June 17, 2024, following an earlier Government Notice No. 455, dated June 7, 2024.
The bill for the new public procurement law was passed in September 2023 by the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania.
Some of the key changes introduced by the new law include:
- An increased preference for local bidders and locally produced or extracted goods.
- Reduced times required for public procurement processes.
- Enhancement of the conditions for using the ‘Force Account’ method by setting a threshold.
- Making it mandatory for all procuring entities to use the National e-Procurement System of Tanzania (NeST) for all procurement processes.
