Any foreigner intending to reside in the United Republic of Tanzania for investment, business, employment or any other legal activity may be issued with Residence Permit or Pass.
Applicants for residence permits should mandatorily meet the following requirements:
- Applicants of Residence Permits may be institutions/companies/ employers registered in Tanzania except retired persons (who can apply as individuals).
- Applications for Residence Permits must be made Online through the Tanzania Immigration Website (www.immigration.go.tz).
- Applications for Residence Permits in Class B and C categories should be made when the prospective individualis still outside the country, except for Residence Permit Class A category.
- It is mandatory for all applicants of Residence Permits to obtain Work Permits. Therefore, all applicants should first obtain Work Permits from the Ministry of Labor. However, those coming to Tanzania for purposes other than work, such as those who come for studies, research, attending court cases and retired persons are exempted from this requirement.
